Not Riding the Wave

I have really failed to get the rage over Google Wave.  Admittedly, I have no invite to the service, so a large part of my thoughts are based on what I have seen and read.  After what I have read, I am certainly no hurry to get an invite. Everything I have read about Google Wave seems to indicate information overload.

Email with chats?  I have enough of a problem managing the workload of email and corporate IM along with the usual batch of customer walk-ups.  Now, imagine Wave in the workplace.  Chats, emails, and other virtual workspace issues, all coming in at different times.  My head is aching just thinking about it.

Do not want.

I got a Google Wave invite like two months ago, but I played around with it and couldn’t really think of anything fantastic with it.

It will take a lot more clarification from Google to see where Wave fits. I have seen people using it, and I have seen companies talk about leveraging it for collaboration and discovery. My initial post, which you linked (thanks), essentially said it was good but busy. So far, I don’t have any good reason to be there – but we may in a year or so.

I did get an invite to Wave from a colleague, so I was able to experience Wave firsthand.

@Snay: I was in no hurry for an invite, and my experience with Wave has proven it.

@Louis Gray: I have to say my thinking is in line with yours. I think that Wave will be useful, in a year after it has more “wavelets” that one can use. I also think it is much too busy an interface, and I will really be interested to see if it is actually possible to make use of it in the corporate world. For now, though, I will be waiting and seeing.
