My Potential Running Follies

In what will either be deemed a stroke of genius or incredibly poor foresight, I have opted to register for two 5Ks in the coming months.

I will again be running the 5K during the 2009 Baltimore Running Festival this year.  I enjoyed running it in 2008, and I look forward to running the race this year as well.  Much like the Shamrock 5K, I believe I will be a repeat offender running this race.

I added a new 5K to my repertoire, however.  I registered for the Right Side Foundation 5K Run at Patterson Park this year–16 August 2009.  The Right Side Foundation is the new charitable foundation started by Baltimore Orioles outfielder Nick Markakis, and the 5K is the first of (presumably) a long line of events to help the foundation raise money.  I have to admit that I am a bit wary of running a race in the late summer in Baltimore, but the run is for a good cause.  Besides, I need a race between the other two races I run, and this is the perfect fit.

Now that you know, come along and cheer me on.

Very interesting…sounds like a serious challenge…or would be for me anyway! So do you go to Fed. Hill Fitness gym also?
I am debating on whether or not to get a membership there…I live in Parkville, so it kind of sucks to be so far….but I mean…GOLD’s is the alternative…yuck. lol

@Bridget Marie: I do indeed go to Fed Hill Fitness. I enjoy that gym when compared to my old Merritt membership. It’s smaller, not as crowded, and not as annoying. It’s also inexpensive compared to Merritt. It does suck that you live in Parkville, but FHF is such a better alternative to Gold’s. Ick.

As for the running, I like it. I’m not going to run any marathons, but it has surprisingly been something I have gotten into. I can’t complain, and it is always nice to strive for trying to shave some time off your previous mark.

Wow, that sounds exhausting. I don’t think I could even do one 5K!

@John: Ask me how I feel in August at the end of that race. ;-) I think I will feel the same way.
