@midwestie: I have a feeling the fan hum--still not diagnosed--is being caused by a replacement of the lighbulbs in the fixture for the first time since I bought the house.

@Paul: I saw you had your issued getting a counter and backsplash this weekend. Good luck.

Last Saturday was tool time for me. Had to fix an exterior water pipe that burst over the winter. (Water was shut off from the inside but there was still water in the line).

And I also put my water barrel back in place.

Next up on the home improvement front is a DIY kitchen upgrade (install tile back splash, new counter top, and new floor). That might happen as soon as Memorial day.....

Sounds like some spring cleaning awaits you! I bet your ceiling fan is unbalanced. I don't think it will be hard to fix. While you're up there, plan on cleaning the fan blades first; they get dirty fast.

I still don't have a self-cleaning oven, so I do mine overnight with the spray-on cleaner and cover the exhaust on the stove with a cloth to keep the smell down. I can't even tell you how good I feel when this chore is completed!

It's awesome to make the house a little more pleasant for others, but you'll enjoy it too. Wow, I think I'm turning into Hazel. ;o))))
