Walking Down a Culinary Memory Lane

In a little more than two weeks, I will be joining some fellow BU alumni in Boston to attend the Beanpot.  By matter of coincidence, Serious Eats today posted about Sunset Grill & Tap, a place where my friends and I spent way too much time thanks to their cornucopia of beers and tasty pub grub.  The post was a nice walk down memory lane for me.

The reviewer was not too keen on the food, but I always thought they did the pub standards very well.  Personally, the nachos were the standard by which all other nachos were judged.  As for beers, the selection there was like none other.

You know, I was thinking about Sunset the other day, and it was disgusting the amount of food I used to eat there. We’d get 3 or 4 of us in there, order a super-sized plate of beefy nachos and our 32-oz beers (because we all had the glasses). Then, we’d each order some huge entree which I’d put down in its entirety, while swilling down 3 or 4 giant beers. Tasty yes, but it probably also explains why I was 50 pounds heavier in my early 20s. But also, a lot of good memories there.
