This week, I completed my first week of Boot Camp. In an effort to give my workouts a bit of a change and to spur my body onto some change, I decided to give a fitness Boot Camp a whirl.
The class will last eight weeks, and it is on Wednesday and Friday mornings. Friday was my first full day after Wednesday being a fitness test class, of sorts. I felt alright after the fitness class, and I was most proud that my half-mile time was consistent with my mile time when I ran my 5K over one year ago.
Friday morning, on the other hand, felt like a return to football practice: run, calisthenics, run, calisthenics, run, calisthenics, run stairs, and sprint up the hill. On Saturday, my calves were a bit sore from running the stairs. No pain, no gain.
We’ll see what Week 2 has in store for me. My instructor is pretty cool, and I do not take too well to personal trainers.

Good for you! That sounds just like summer gym in high school, when I sometimes had to practice with the football team. There were a lot of cones and sprinting. You might just inspire me to fit more purposeful exercise into my tight schedule.
