While out with some friends on Saturday night at my usual hangout, we opted to try the bacon-flavored vodka Sessa was fawning about some time ago. While I can say it was interesting at best, we decided to do something a bit different with the liquor. Why not make a BLT-like shot? Fortunately, abigail was kind enough to allow us some discretion with this shot, and she was even kinder in putting up with our requests.
Obviously, the vodka and tomato juice were easy to come by in a bar. So, our first variation on this was to just have the vodka with tomato juice. That was tasty, but my friend Brian and I thought something was missing. The conundrum we had was how to introduce lettuce onto our palate with this shot. Some quick bit of thinking thought about adding some dry vermouth to the shot. Surprisingly, this actually made it tastier.
In a rather ironic twist, I discovered that Evan Siple was seated next to me at the bar some time before. It was pretty fun meeting him and just plain shooting the breeze while enjoying some beverages. He was also kind enough to partake in the BLT shot.
So, Sessa, if there is not a lot of bacon-flavored vodka left, you have the BLT to blame.
