I have been watching episodes of The Wire early for the last 4 weeks–thanks, OnDemand! I am not going to try to spoil too much, but there are a number of plot-lines that are quite interesting.
- Marlo’s continuing grab for power and the part he played in Prop Joe’s death has been a shocking yet unsurprising turn of events. Marlo has finally rid himself of the stumbling block that prevented him from making the grab for all of Baltimore’s drug corners.
- When is McNulty’s fabrication–for altogether altruistic reasons–going to catch up to him?
- In an effort to not give anything away: OMAR!?!?!?!!!!!! In a criminal environment where ethics are not valued at all, Omar is just refreshing.
- This week’s episode with Baltimore attorney Billy Murphy was classic–both in its display of Billy Murphy and of Clay “Sheeeeeeeee-it” Davis.
- The storyline involving the Sun seems to be too much of David Simon waging battles he lost a long time ago. While I think that his depiction of the modern newsroom to be correct, I think some of this depiction continues to battle some grudges Simon still has. I, for one, want to ring the neck of the editor from Philadelphia.
And only two more episodes left. I am going to miss this show.
