Tomorrow is the release of “Leopard,” Apple’s new variation on OS X. I am sure some of you have come across the usual glowing and sycophantic reviews of Apple’s OS already.
I, for one, am glad someone else pointed out the foibles of this operating system. Is it truly the advancement that everyone thinks it is? To paraphrase what Russell Beattie said, get your head out of your Steve Jobs’ distortion-field-addled asses.
Tomorrow, the tech press will be full of the OMGWTFBBQ!!!111!! coverage of Apple they are prone too, and I have to admit there is nothing at all revolutionary about this release of the OS. Nonetheless, we will continue to here the din of how the newest Apple OS is the greatest thing since the invention of the light bulb.
How long before the Apple fanboys realize that their favorite company is just like Microsoft, except in much hipper clothes and playing to a much smaller audience?

In the review I read (MIT’s Technology Review), the main point they made was that the OS includes software that will delete a file to the point where forensics can’t find it, but that the Time Machine backup stuff just goes ahead and backs that shit up anyway… durrrr?
You should listen to Leo Laporte’s Windows Weekly 38. They make fun of Time Machines stupid effects. It’s a backup program: make it user-friendly, but don’t make it like some stupid sci-fi film special effect.
Another thing: their screen sharing technology is based on VNC. Hmmm…that’s real secure. I am somewhat curious if they are tunneling that traffic over an SSH tunnel.
I listened to it already and agree that it is silly.
I’m guessing that screen sharing will not take place in the clear, Apple isn’t dumb for any other failing you might think they have.
