I took a quick break from lunch today to pay a visit to the nearby Best Buy to pick up a new DVV. Since today is DVD Tuesday, Transformers was released. In a strange series of events, I missed seeing this in the theaters. My bout of food poisoning, my lame friends, and my lame ass, respectively, all conspired to keep me from this movie this summer. With that, I decided to pick up the 2-Disc DVD set.
The movie was exactly what I expected it to be. It was typical Michael Bay fare–large explosions, little story line, good-looking actors, and bombastic soundtrack. I enjoyed it, though. This movie was not as bad as I expected it to be since it was based on something I enjoyed a lot when I was 10-13 years old–the Transformers cartoon. Admittedly, making Peter Cullen–the original voice of Optimus Prime in the cartoon–the voice of Optimus Prime in the movie was an excellent choice.
I was able to enjoy some quiet time this evening and watch this movie. The rest of the week is a bit busy from here on out, with various work and house-related errands to run. It was nice to relax and enjoy the movie. Watching this movie, though, reminded me of why I need to get an updated television. My old television did the visuals little justice.

I LOVED this movie. In fact, I am super jealous that you already own it, and I don’t. Wasn’t that first scene jaw-dropping? One thing I noticed was how (in the final scene) the transformers moved exactly like we played with them - with spins and flips and the like. It was really quite fun to watch.
So good.

Don’t let Myles find out you have the DVD. He’ll demand to come over and watch it.
