Post-First Day Thoughts

After one day on the job, let’s discuss the things I like about my new job:

  • Commute: My commute, albeit a bit long, is a nice walk.  My car gets to sit at home, and I get to enjoy a nice walk to and from the office.  Our recent stretch of weather is helping make this an easy choice, but I like being able to walk to the office.
  • Learning: I have only been on my job one day, and I already learned some about some of the cool tools I am going to have to get to know.
  • Access: I already had the access I needed on my first day, and that is pretty darn cool.

Today was a long day, but a good one.  I am looking forward to a second good day tomorrow.

I’ve had a fair share of first days. I have to say this, how prepared they are for you on the first day can tell you a bit about what you can expect from a company. If they are ready for you things tend to be better organized and the organization isn’t completely screwed up from day one.

And I’m jealous of your commute.

Well I’m jealous of your timely access. I didn’t even get a computer until three weeks into this job! (Seriously–my boss would bring in his laptop so I had something to work on!)

You know you are only allowed to like it there as long as you crash a few key computers for me from time to time. :)

    Good luck. :)

As much fun as it would be, I am not in direct control of potentially crashing someone’s workstation. Besides, the security folks might not like me doing that. ;-) I understand your desire, though.

Damn it. What CAN you do for me then… ??
