Odds and Ends

  • Apparently, my current unemployed status means that I am much more amenable to taking road trips.  I am about 80% in favor of making a trip to visit my friend and his wife in Atlanta.  He has dangled attending the Final Four as a potential carrot, and at the time I have nothing else to do.  It would be nice to see Atlanta when the weather is bearable, and it would be good to see him and his wife before they have their child.
  • Of course, making the aforementioned road trip means I would be unavailable for the planned Maryland Blogger Happy Hour on 31 March.  It would be good to meet some of the more corporate blogger types, but I would think the trip would be hard to pass up.  Decisions, decisions.
  • While running at the gym today, all of the morning show talking heads would not stop with the Anna Nicole Smith coverage.  Really, is anyone surprised she died of a drug overdose of a number of different medications?  Wow, that was truly shocking.  Thankfully, I had my MP3 player to block out actually having to listen to the tripe that was being dispensed by all the networks.  The state of news is truly sad, to be sure.
  • The last two episodes of 24 have been pretty good after a few lackluster ones.  There seems to be a much larger focus on the internecine political battles brewing, but it seems as though political intrigue is the name of the game this season.  As for last night’s episode, I was a little scared that the mentally-handicapped brother was going to be just embarrassing.  Surprisingly, it was handled pretty well.  Of course, it looks as though one of the protagonists–Dmitri Gredenko–is going to get the presidential pardon island vacation as a reward for his cooperation.
  • I am adding something to the ol’ blog here.  Twitter Tools.

    It’s an 8-track player. A big one.
