I saw them in 1987, sitting on the edge of a stage in a sleazy, dirty little club in Atlanta. Fishbone opened for them.
I liked Fishbone better, but the Peppers were pretty good. That being said I just can imagine them in a stadium. I know they have been doing stadiums for most of their years, but still I have them stuck in my head with the small club thing... and doing that old stuff in their underwear. or the sock ball thing. I can't imagine they flash their genitals much these days!

danielle: My problem with Gnarls Barkley--who had an entertaining Austin Powers costume arrangement on--was that the singing tended to be drowned out by the music. I don't know if it was Cee-Lo's voice, the acoustics, or something else, but it was hard trying to make out the words.

AGT: Sorry about those photos. ;-) Thanks for the commendation. My issue with the Peps is that they need to occasionally make it a bit more funky and return to their roots. Stadium Arcadium is the closest they have been in years, but I blame Dave Navarro's brief time with the band for this turn in their music. Damn him!

Don't hate on my hair! And why are you taking pictures of me? Just kidding. I swear, I'm not that guy.
Anyway, apparently the Peps have given up on anything pre-BloodSugar because their fanbase either has forgotten it, or doesn't know it exists. Somehow, you have retained enough brain cells to know that Mother's Milk is not just what's for breakfast. For that, I commend you.

I should have warned you about the young fans, although it couldn't have been worse than when I saw Green Day at Merriweather last year or so. The kids were there with their parents. The line for t-shirts was longer than the line for beer. But of course, I liked Green Day & RHCP when I was 13, too.

RHCP also only played 2 older songs at Virgin Fest (and nothing pre-Blood Sugar Sex Magic), but that was a shorter set.

That guy should have twirled his dreads up turban style on the top of his head to hide the bald spot!

How was Gnarls Barkley?
