Loose Ends

  • I successfully got my Perl script working yesterday.  It is ready for deployment come January 1.  The script generates a random number, uses that number for the filename, inserts that text file into an email, and emails the message to a designated recipient.  All I have to do is enable the job in my crontab.txt file, and it is done.
  • I left my cell phone on my kitchen counter this morning after looking at it and reminding myself to take it.  If you happen to call–which none of you will anyway–you will just have to wait for my response.
  • 24 Geekery: I finished my DVD set of Season 5 of 24.  I also finally watched the Season 6 prequel, and it is lame.  Unlike previous season prequels, it doesn’t quite set you up for what happens in Season 6, and I have to admit I am a bit disappointed by it.  Speaking of 24, during this morning’s Take on Television on WYPR had the Sun’s David Zurawik crowing about 24 as this year’s best network drama (He also gives kudos to The Wire).  I’m biased, but I couldn’t agree more on both counts.  All of this has me jazzed for the Season 6 premiere on 14 January.
  • I need to find out what my family plans to do for the Christmas holiday.  Just like Thanksgiving, I know I will need to make two trips.  I just need to find out when the gatherings are.  I also need to get my meager Christmas shopping done.  Damn procrastination.
  • Tomorrow I am going to work from home.  I have some things that need to get done, and it is easier if I do them from the home office.  Kind of a nice thing about this time of year.  Suck it, office slaves!

I love 24. I came in on season 2 and have been hooked ever since! Can’t get enough of Jack Bauer and the crew. Like you, I can’t wait for the new season!!!! I have memory issues regarding watching and reading things so I don’t recap very well…but I do recall being a little put off by a few episodes this past season…just can’t recall what exactly happened. Think I may need to get the DVDs and watch again.

They are always a good watch, and I would recommend getting your hands on Season 1. I just started watching that again, and what good stuff. It is fun to see how much the show has developed–and the characters–over these 5 seasons.

its so good to know that I’m not the only one that looks at something, reminds myself to take it and promptly leaves it where I saw it :)
