Thanks to the Italian Explorer

Today, I give thanks to Christopher Columbus for bumping into a Bahamian island on the way to the New World.  For this feat of oceanic navigation, I have today off.  So, thanks, Chris!

The weekend was good but much too short.  I caught up with old friends on Saturday, and on Sunday I caught up with someone special.  I even spent yesterday enjoying the nice weather with some delicious adult beverages.

For today, I had two objectives.  I wandered over to Fell’s Point to take a peak into Su Casa and Pad.  Really nice and really expensive furniture, but I was only going there to get some decorating ideas.  I know I can probably do much better elsewhere on some of the furniture front.

My other objective was to buy some music, and a visit to Sound Garden was in order.  I picked up Weird Al’s “Straight Outta Lynwood,” the Wood Brothers “Ways Not To Lose,” and Beck’s “The Information.”  All of them are quite good, and I will be slapping them onto the ol’ MP3 player in short order.

Well, yesterday, actually. It was nice.

I was looking at the Weird Al album in the store yesterday. It seems to be packaged on some kind of gnarly CD/DVD hybrid and had disclaimers galore about how it may not play properly on all players.

Did you have any problems ripping the audio? Or find any other nastiness like a rootkit after putting it in your machine?

R.O.B: Actually, the second disc is just a DVD. The first disc is just a CD, and I ripped the MP3s to it just fine. It is on my MP3 player now, and I have seen no evidence of a rootkit (of course, I turn off Auto-Play on my CD-ROM drive on my home desktop).

Didn’t realize it was two discs – I misinterpreted the disclaimers to indicate it was a single disc that was a hybrid.
