Moving In and Unpacking

As of Saturday afternoon, some friends and I moved the remaining large items I had in my apartment to my new house.  The move took all of about 2 hourse, so it obviously helps to live in a small apartment.  After the move, I treated my friends to drinks and eats at MaGerk’s, as it was the least I could do.

I realized I kind of made a logistical error when moving my BGE utilities to my new house.  Apparently, when you tell BGE you are moving, they do indeed flip the switch and turn off power at the old place.  My former landlord doesn’t seem to enthralled about that, but that’s really not my problem.

I did not do too much unpacking–just some bare essentials for now.  I can say that my bathroom is done and organized, though.  The best thing about the weekend was being able to say “I just took a shower in the bathroom of my house.”  “My house” has a very nice ring to it.

My cable was installed on Friday afternoon, but I still need to terminate and crimp three of the coaxial cable going to other outlets in my house.  The Comcast installer wanted to charge me for that, but I decided against it.  If I can make my own Ethernet cable, I can sure as hell crimp and terminate some coax!  My internet connection is flaky, though, but I am going to troubleshoot that this evening.

I have already begun the spending of obscene amounts of money at Target.  This week, I plan to have my washer and dryer purchased and installed and get some window blinds.  After work today, I am going to get my kitchen and office unpacked and setup.  Aside from that, I will begin setting up my bedroom.

All in all, it’s pretty cool to realize that I am now living in my house.

Be sure to get a washer/dryer where you can turn off the stupid buzzer thing. It sucks when you’re nearly asleep and then it buzzers every 10 minutes letting you know it is “almost done” then “done” then “super wrinkle & static mode commencing”.
