Beautiful Day for Football

This was my view yesterday from the football game, via my cell phone.  I hooked up with The Cheese for the game, and aside from seeing a typical Ravens offensive performance, the game was pretty good.  The defense is impressive, but those defensive lineman need to work on their conditioning when running back a fumble for a touchdown–for the second week in a row, the recovered fumble was stopped just short of the end zone.  I was a bit unsuccessful in finding a tailgate to attend yesterday.  Instead, I enjoyed some expensive tasting swill at the stadium.

The weather was a bit too warm for my tastes and football season, but it was better than it was at the same time on Saturday.  I received a little bit of sunburn, and I sweated my proverbial ass off with the sun beating down on me all afternoon.  It is still hard to complain about clear sunny skies for the home opener.

The atmosphere for football, though, is just great.  The stadium is full of everyone wearing their purple jerseys, and when the game has begun the crowd is just electric.  Also, as much as I love baseball, it is such a change to enjoy a team whose record will probably be much better than their northern neighbors.  Football and baseball are two completely different experiences, but in Baltimore the contrast is even starker.  Instead of watching a team founder helplessly in the morass of its 9th losing season, I get to watch a team with 2 wins and a chance to do well.

re: stadium swill, I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at that half cup of Heineken for $7.

I cried, then I laughed. I am curious as to if beer at the stadium will approach $10.

It’s too bad that it’s not as easy to sneak alcohol in the stadium as it is for Camden Yards.
