I arrived in Chicago yesterday afternoon, and I unpacked and settled in my room at the Embassy Suites in Chicago. I headed down Michigan Avenue, enjoying the spring weather and the “Magnificent Mile.” I also decided to partake in the badness that is Chicago-style stuffed pizza from Giordano’s for dinner. I now officially do not need to eat pizza until sometime in the middle of next year.
Today was the first day of training, and the first day of my “Introduction to IT Auditing” class had me spending way too much time answering some basic questions about IT infrastructure. It is admittedly interesting being one of the few systems administrators who has been starting in the IT audit field. All in all, though, the second part of today was a lot better and did not cover so much basic material. I am looking forward to actually learning both best practices and the audit “lingo.”
Finally, while enjoying some free drinks this evening during the Manager’s Reception here at the Embassy Suites, one of my fellow attendees made a pretty good observation. I leave you with this morsel:
“Martinis are like woman’s breasts. One is not enough, and three is too many.”

I grew up near Chicago and know Giordano’s well. You could really push the glutton button on that stuff! With beer, it’s a case of leadbelly for sure.
I love Chicago. If I win the lottery, that’s where I would go and spend it.
Oh man, that should have been my quote! That’s awesome.
And you will be eating pizza in Boston.
midwestie: I figured you grew up in the area, given your nickname. That said, I love Chicago. Tonight it is out to dinner somewhere decent.
cp: Yeah, you are right. I will be eating pizza in Boston. Damn it!!!!
