It’s Friday afternoon, dammit! I need a break from the monotony of surfing my desk and hacking servers and such. Besides, after such a serious post, I need to lighten up so you fools can mock me.
- In my continued slavish devotion to my corporate coffee master, I could not resist purchasing Tony Bennett-Through the Years while making my morning stop for a heavily caffeinated beverage.
- Seems appropriate considering I will be seeing Mr. Bennett at the Hippodrome on Saturday, May 6th. I have two tickets, so who is going with me?
- After all the time I have spent in Baltimore, I went to the Mt. Washington Tavern last night for the first time. Long story short, I had always intended on going, I just never found the right time. It is a very cool place from an aesthetic standpoint, and they made my Maker’s Manhattans just like I like them. I need to go back there and enjoy dinner sometime in the near future, as their Garden Room looked quite inviting and my friends seemed to like their menu.
- Aside from being a bit unsightly, my broken toe is feeling much better. I am not quite 100%, but I figure in another week I should be back to normal. I still cannot put pressure on it, but my walk is now only slightly gimpy.
- And, for a great laugh and a bit of trivia, guess when the photo to the right was taken. Here’s a hint, I am on the far left of the photo wearing a t-shirt that will help in dating the photo.

So – you’re hosting the next Happy Hour at Mt. Washington Tavern? Great!! that’s on my way home from work.

I saw that pic on your friend’s link. Enquiring minds want to know why they call you Bear.
Did you shit in the woods?!!
For some odd reason, one of my friends decided to nickname me the Bear. I initially didn’t like it, but everyone called me that. So, it stuck.
Now, the reason I came to be called Bear was because I was known for my large hands and feet. Additionally, I had this tendency to sleep in on Saturdays my freshman year–hibernating, if you will. Thus, it just sort of stuck. I guess it works given my build, too.

I would love to go to that T.B show with you but I will be in Boston (as you well know). I’ll think of you when I’m at Fenway if you think of me while you are at the Hippodrome.

As one who knows the origin of the name freshman year, it is because he shits in the woods…or was it hibernate in the mensroom?
