Back from the Dirty South

After a delay I did not expect from Delta Airlines, I got back to my place in Baltimore just after 6 PM yesterday. After experiencing that delay, I now know why Delta is facing bankruptcy. I was supposed to be on the ground at BWI just before 4 PM, but I did not get off the plane until 5 PM thanks to a gate snafu and a 20 minute delay from Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta. I will sum up by merely stating that Delta is teh suck!

I had a good time in Atlanta, and I actually saw some exciting basketball. I have yet to pull the photos off my digital camera, but I expect some decent photos from my trip.

In the last night of my trip, I had dinner with my friend from college and his wife. Here is my shameless plug for a good restaurant in Atlanta. I highly recommend that you visit Rathbun’s of Atlanta. This restaurant is damn good. The atmosphere is my kind of place, and the food is excellent. I suggest that if you head to Atlanta for an extended stay and have a rental car, make reservations for this place. You will thank me later.

Back to work, as the natives are getting restless.

Okay chowhound, what did you eat at Rathbun’s? Enquiring minds and rumbling stomachs want to know.

If you must know, the restaurant does an interesting choice of both small plates and large plates. For appetizers, we had a ahi tuna crudo and a thai beef thing (I think it was called that). Both were quite good. For a salad, I had the mixed greens with oranges and goat cheese, with a nice bit of olive oil on it (quite tasty). For my main course, I had the seared yellowfin tune, seared, with mushrooms. That was delicious. For desert, there was a large platter, but I enjoyed the creme brulee the most. Two bottles of Merlot were consumed with dinner as well.

It was much better than the southern fried foods my friends ate that night. ;-)
