Heading to the ATL for the Sweet Sixteen

I have a flight that leaves early this evening for a scheduled trip to Atlanta to watch the NCAA Regional. Of course, I am watching just one quarter of the weekend’s games, but it should be a fun time. I was in Orlando two years ago for the first round, and that was admittedly much more fun since there were a lot of games to watch–you get to see some of the upsets happen. This time, I will see Duke play LSU and then West Virginia play Texas on Thursday. Admittedly, I have no interest in any of these teams, but I will have the opportunity to boo the much-hated Dookies.

I am at the office much too early this morning, and I will be bolting out early this afternoon to take care of a couple of things before heading out of Baltimore until Sunday. I have been to Atlanta before, but mainly it has been a stop while on my way to other destinations. It will be the first time I have spent any extensive amount of time in that fair city. The last time I was there, I was in town as a groomsman for my friend’s wedding. I literally flew in, drove through rush hour traffic in Buckhead, picked up a tuxedo, and drove two hours north to the mountains of Georgia.

The group I am heading there with is just crazy enough to make this a fun trip. I will also see the aforementioned married friend who lives and works in Atlanta. Who knows, maybe I will be able to kick it with Ludacris, too. ;-)

I went to the Final Four in 2001, and had a blast, even though Maryland fucked it up.
