Hang-Ups

  • Today was the last day of the South Baltimore Men’s Touch Football League for my team, and it is the last time I will be playing in that league.  I hang up my cleats after three seasons, leaving behind an impressive 2-30 record.  During that time, I also received about 5 or 6 pancake blocks, a nice ankle injury, and various bumps and bruises.  It was somewhat fun, but it is most assuredly high time I leave this league behind.  The first season was rough, as we routinely got beat by players who were larger, faster, and more capable of inflicting injusry.  This season was not as bad as that first one, and I blame part of that on some of the same teams just getting older.  Nonetheless, I will play in this league no more.  I just became tired of losing and completely killing any spare time I had on a Sunday before the NFL games began.  Besides, at the rate our team was going, I would likely be in my late 40′s before we actually had a winning record.
  • My weekend was none too exciting, especially when you go into the office and spend about three hours there on a Saturday afternoon.  I enjoyed a Friday evening rendezvous with some friends at Cross Street Market, and I engaged in some good conversation with other people at said venue.  On Saturday evening I attended a celebratory party for some acquaintances who recently became engaged.  Admittedly, I do not know them very well, but I enjoyed drinking their wine and eating their food.  ;-P
  • In one week, the best show on television returns: 24.  Even better, however, is A&E has began re-airing the previous seasons–Days, in the parlance of 24.  I missed the first two days of 24 completely.  I was able to enjoy Day 1 on New Years Day while recovering from the celebration, and I have been watching Day 2 on Sundays.  Next Sunday, I will be watching Day 5.
  • Family Guy was pretty funny tonight, too.  The best was the song lyric that was changed from what would rhyme with Allen Funt.  ;-)

Are you sure you won’t be talked into football next year? ;)

You are welcome to verify my statement when my Capt. Larry’s jersey has been officially retired to the rafters of said establishment. I am most certainly not coming out of retirement. “I’m too old for this shit.”

I love the work of Allen Funt!

    Or a nicely shaven leg!

Nice, Allen. Someone picked up on the reference.
