New Hotness: Gaim 2.0 Beta 1

Over the weekend, the developers of Gaim announced the release of the latest Gaim beta.  Gaim is the open-source equivalent of Trillian.  Way back before most of you even knew what the Internet was, I tried Trillian and was singularly unimpressed.  It also had some interesting problems with the various instant message services.  Gaim, however, worked without some of those oddities.

Behold the obligatory screenshot of Gaim running on my system.

If you are as nerdy cool as me, you will have a need for Gaim.  It sure beats the hell out having to run 4 different instant message clients.  If you consider yourself brave, go download the beta

Trillian can be junk, but it works okay for what I need.

Everyone who uses Trillian is a bitch. Hence, you are a bitch. ;-)

Okay, am I the only one who wondered why your contacts show as big grey blobs? Took me way too long to figure out that one.

No wonder I couldn’t figure out Trillian. :p

You are the winner! You don’t need contacts in Gaim, they just magically appear from the gray blob. ;-)

I did a bit of hacking about in MSPAINT.EXE. I did not want anyone knowing my precious contacts.
