Get it Right!

It’s been a busy morning back at the office, as I am actually at my desk for the first time in three days. I just now was able to take a look at my morning feeds. I came across this glaring error in an article by The Sun’s David Zurawick.

The article New faces for the digital age talks about the decision ABC has made to succeed Peter Jennings as anchors for World News Tonight. In it, the article makes the following statement about the announcement:

“Among the three people who were under consideration, Charlie Gibson has the most documented history of success, and if this were a five-year appointment, he may have gotten it,” said Bob Zelnick, former ABC News Pentagon correspondent who now is chairman of the University of Boston’s Department of Journalism. “But Charlie’s in his 60s, and they were interested in a move that is going to be competitive in the long-term, because that’s what [NBC anchorman] Brian Williams is, and that is presumably what Katie Couric would be [at CBS].” (emphasis added)

I dashed off an email to Mr. Zurawick as I was a bit distraught that he would make such an error. It was even more annoying considering that I am an alum of Boston University. Bob Zelnick’s bio as the Chairman of the Boston University Department of Journalism can even be found with a quick Google search.

I don’t ask for much, just get the name of my alma mater right, damn it!

Update: Mr. Zurawick was kind enough to respond to my email, admitting mea culpa. He was even humorous in admitting his error, and it was quite nice to see that my alma mater stepped up and let him know of his error as well.
