Making Contact

Earlier this summer, my nephew was placed into Child Protective Services as a result of what transpired with my mother. I was unable to be a resource, given that I lived in a small apartment by myself, but I wanted to maintain contact. I was bad, though, as I did not have any contact information for him. Additionally, the place where he was placed initially was not where he wound up spending the rest of the summer. After he finished school for the year, that resource asked that he be relocated.

Not knowing the correct protocol, I contacted the Baltimore City Department of Social Services in an effort to find out how I could contact him. I was referred to Child Protective Services who would be able to put me in touch with his social worker. After making another call, I was able to get the contact information for her, and I left her a voicemail message.

I received a phonecall in my office from her, and she said that she would tell my nephew to contact me when she visits him on Thursday. Given that his birthday was yesterday, I certainly hope to hear from him and maybe even see him.
