- I decided to play around with Visual Styles on both of my Windows XP machines over the last day, based on a post on this blog.
Normally, I have shied away from themes, as it was something I used to
do back in the day. I just need to get my work done. I
decided to give it another try this time around, and I am glad I
did. Some of the new Visual Styles allow for the taskbar–the bar
with the Start button on it–to be much smaller, thus taking up less
screen real estate. If you are brave, try the instructions found here. Some good sites for various themes and styles can be found at Neowin and DeviantART. Go make your Windoze machine look cool! - Earlier this week, Dave Winer released his open-source OPML Editor. You can download it here.
I have been waiting on this release, as one can now have a free and
quite adequate outliner. Even cooler, it has a blogging
tool. My OPML blog is here. Check this tool out, even if you want to merely use it for outlining things, as I plan to use it for. A good review of it can also be found on Jon Udell’s blog. - I discovered that the new network jacks in my office are active,
so I can now have 100Mbps at my desktop. There is something to be
said for having the connectivity a network administrator
deserves. You know, I am going to miss this connectivity when I
move to my new job. - Continuing in that vein, I am adding some information to the Wiki
at work so that the knowledge transfer goes smoothly. No one can
say I did not document anything upon my departure.
Well, time to actually return to work. Man, this week has flown by fast, and the days even faster.
